Mosaic offers two different Sunday services with one shared purpose: helping people think deeply, build community, and become empowered to create a more loving and just world.

Dialogos: A Service That Empowers You to Think

Many churches tell people what the Bible means and expect them to accept that interpretation without question. Dialogos takes a different approach. Our goal is to give people the information, tools, and freedom they need to explore the Bible for themselves.

We begin by reading the biblical text and paying attention to what it actually says. Then we explore the history, culture, politics, and religious traditions of the people who wrote it. We also examine how the passage has been interpreted and used throughout history—including the times it has been used to heal, liberate, control, or harm.

The Wesleyan Quadrilateral

We use the Wesleyan Quadrilateral as a guide for thinking about faith. It invites us to consider four things:

Scripture: What does the biblical text actually say?

Tradition: How have Christians and faith communities understood and practiced this throughout history?

Reason: What do careful study, critical thinking, history, and science help us understand?

Experience: What can we learn from our own lives and from the experiences of others—especially people whose voices have often been ignored?

Scripture is central to this process, but we do not pretend that anyone reads it without interpretation. Tradition, reason, and experience help us examine what we have been taught, recognize harmful interpretations, and discover new possibilities within the text.

Open Discussion

The word dialogos means dialogue. After the sermon, we have an open discussion where people may ask questions, share insights, disagree respectfully, or talk about how the message connects with life today.

The pastor does not have to be the only person in the room with something meaningful to say. Everyone brings experiences, knowledge, questions, and wisdom that can help the whole community learn.

Together, we ask what we can learn from those who walked before us, what mistakes we should avoid repeating, and how these ancient writings might help us live with greater courage, compassion, and justice today.

Dialogos does not tell you what to think. It helps you learn how to explore, question, and grow.

Common Ground: Many Faiths, Shared Work

Common Ground was created especially for mixed-faith families who wanted a place where everyone could participate without one person’s beliefs being treated as more important than another’s.

Today, Common Ground includes people from many religious, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds, as well as people who do not follow any faith tradition. We come together to learn about one another’s religions and cultures, honor our differences, and discover the values that connect us.

We do not search for common ground by pretending every religion teaches the same thing. Instead, we listen to the distinct stories, wisdom, celebrations, practices, and perspectives each person brings.

Each service explores an issue of justice and considers how different religions, cultures, and communities have understood it. We ask what our traditions can teach us, where they have caused harm, and how people with different beliefs can work together to make meaningful change.

Common Ground does not ask you to convert, leave your beliefs behind, or agree with everyone. It empowers you to understand your neighbors, learn from perspectives beyond your own, and join people from many backgrounds in changing the world.
