April 2026 Newsletter

Dirt Church

April at Mosaic means dirt church. It is a time to dig into the environmental issues around us. From our church yard to Greenfield Lake, we will explore how we can care for the earth and those who live here. As we remove the grass to create an educational garden, we will talk about food insecurity, native plants, clean water, and food forests. Below are several ways to help us use our outdoor space to build community and feed our neighbors.

Work Days

April 11 and 25 from 10-2, our community will come together to transform our outdoor space. If you can help please bring garden tools, shovels, and gloves. The list includes: building garden beds, planting grow bags, repairing the fence, cleaning up the berm behind our parking lot and planting it with native plants and herbs, and painting our shared table.

We need the following items: bags of topsail (pesticide free), garden tools, kids sized garden tools, grow bags (14 and 20 gallon), tomato and pepper plants, blueberry and raspberry bushes, paw paw trees, and rainbow colored outdoor paint.

Giving Basket

Our giving basket helps in many ways. You can donate to help us pay utilities, crayons, and all the things it takes to run a church. You can also give to our Crowded Table Coffee Shop, or you can donate your time and talents to our work.

You can visit our online Giving Basket Here.

Dialogos Sundays 11:00 AM 12:00 PM

Dialogos is Greek for “through words”. It originally meant discussion to find truth. Each week we will work our way through each book found in our Bible. We will look at the time period, key verses and stories, some of the original language, and how it fits into the overall story of our scripture.

After the sermon, the second half of the service is a discussion. Everyone will have a chance to share their understanding and experiences, ask the Pastor questions, and talk about what we are going through.

Childcare available.

Common Grounds Interfaith Service Sundays at 1:00 PM 2:00 PM

Common Ground is an Interfaith service with a focus on social justice. Through learning about different cultures and religions and how they connect, we will build a community that can bring positive change to the lives of those connected to us and to the world.

This is a more traditional service with a choir, readings, and moments to reflect. In this time we will focus on an inclusive community built with love and cover different civil rights leaders, justice warriors, historical moments and faith connections across religions.

The Crowded Table Coffee Shop Update

This month we are working on the floors. Ashley Adams is creating a Mosaic for the front area of our Sanctuary. If you would like to help with painting the Mosaic please email the office.

Our wish list items are coming in and we are still fundraising to make this all happen. You can donate and view our wish list at https://www.mosaicwilmington.org/coffee

Children and Youth Ministry

Mosaic is reconstructing our family programs. With the addition of our Common Grounds Interfaith Community, we are launching Mosaic Rooted and Growing, a full ministry program for all ages. The first step is learning what you need and want. We want to hear from all families that want a safe space for their children to learn about grace, faith, and social justice within the UMC and across religions. During this process we will not have any evening programming for families for the month of April.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

-Pastor Kelley

Additional note: As we begin cleaning and remodeling our children and youth space we will have a wish list of items. At this time the following items are on the list.

Infant toys age 0-3, A World Map (Laminated poster), A Rocking Chair for the Infant room, 2 kitchen sized trash cans with a lid, Baby blankets, Set of World Religions classroom posters
