A four-week inclusive Advent curriculum for children ages 4–8 that connects the traditional Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love with caring for the world around us.
Designed for Children’s Church, Sunday School, or other children’s ministry settings, Advent in the Garden helps children discover that the Christmas story takes place right here in creation—among people, animals, earth, stars, food, weather, families, and communities. As we wait for Jesus, we learn to love the world God loves.
Each week includes an interactive Bible story, Creation Show & Tell, movement, age-appropriate wonder questions, a creation-care activity, a simple low-cost craft, an Advent challenge, and a closing blessing.
The four lessons are:
Week 1 — Hope: A World That Can Flourish
Week 2 — Peace: Peace for Every Creature
Week 3 — Joy: Let the Whole Earth Celebrate
Week 4 — Love: God Comes to Live Here
The curriculum also includes an optional Christmas lesson, a 24-day Creation-Care Advent Calendar, and printable family take-home cards.
Inclusion is woven throughout the curriculum. Children encounter a creation filled with different bodies, families, abilities, creatures, colors, ways of moving, and ways of growing—with the recurring reminder: Different is part of creation.
Designed with 12-point minimum body text, low-ink Advent-blue leader pages, and black-and-white family printables for affordable classroom copying.
