Our Beliefs
Mosaic is made up of different communities and ministries, but everything we do grows from the same shared values.
What We Share
We believe science is real, love is love, and every person deserves dignity, safety, and belonging. We believe justice requires us to center people who have been marginalized, listen to their experiences, and work alongside them to change harmful systems.
At the heart of everything we do is the principle: “Nothing about us without us.” When we respond to the needs of a community, the people most affected must lead the way. We do not assume that we know what others need. We listen, build relationships, share power, and follow the leadership of those with lived experience.
We welcome questions, honor differences, and believe no one should have to hide who they are to belong. We are committed to being anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, accessible, trauma-aware, and open to people of every faith and no faith.
Mosaic United Methodist Church
Mosaic UMC is a progressive Christian community rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus. We believe God’s love is for everyone—without exceptions.
We read the Bible with curiosity, historical understanding, and a willingness to ask difficult questions. We take scripture seriously without insisting that every passage must be read literally. We believe faith should produce compassion, liberation, justice, and healing rather than fear, shame, exclusion, or control.
Our table is open, our community is affirming, and everyone is invited to participate fully in the life of the church.
Common Ground
Common Ground is an open and affirming interfaith community for people of every religion and no religion. It is a place to learn from one another without pretending that all traditions are the same.
We believe many paths can teach us about compassion, justice, wonder, community, and care for our neighbors. People are welcome to bring their whole identity, their beliefs, their questions, and their doubts. No one is expected to convert, agree with everyone else, or leave their own tradition behind.
The Crowded Table
The Crowded Table is more than a coffee shop. It is a community ministry built around hospitality, dignity, and shared belonging.
We believe everyone deserves a place at the table, whether or not they can afford to pay. Our pay-what-you-can model allows those with more to support those with less while ensuring that everyone receives the same welcome and care.
The Crowded Table supports LGBTQIA+ people, unhoused neighbors, low-income families, and others who have been pushed to the margins. We develop our programs by listening to the people they are intended to serve and inviting them to help shape what comes next.
